Tuesday Transportation Oddities
Think this railroad crossing warning would get your attention? It was located in Grenada, Mississippi and erected in the mid-1930s after several fatal crashes at the crossing. Not only was the warning explicit, the words would light up in neon when a train approached and if all that didn’t grab your attention, an air raid siren would sound. The arrow would light showing the direction the train was traveling. It lasted until 1970.
