**Bernie’s Notes**

I couldn’t let this day pass without noting its significance to me personally and, I hope, to millions of commuters in the New York City area. Forty years ago today, Shadow Traffic-New York went on the air. I was one of the original reporters. It was a job that introduced me to the world of transportation communications and which led to the creation of this newsletter 21 and a half years ago. How fortunate I was to be there at the start of something that is still growing strong and which helps millions of travelers every day. It was a privilege to be the companion of drivers as they took to the roads of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and to be a trusted voice.
