Did you know what is considered the first press release was sent on behalf of a transportation company? In 1906 a Pennsylvania Railroad passenger train derailed on a drawbridge going to Atlantic City, New Jersey. Ivy Lee, who had the company as a client, wrote and sent the release. The New York Times printed the release verbatim.
