Tuesday Transportation Oddities

One of the shortest forms of transportation is the escalator. The first one was installed at Coney Island in 1896. It wasn’t built to carry riders between floors of a building but as a novelty by Jesse Reno and was called a continuous elevator. Originally the word Escalator was a trademark, but like trampoline and aspirin, it is now a generic term.
