1961 **50th anniversary** The Woodrow Wilson Bridge, which crosses the Potomac River and connects Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, was opened to traffic on the 105th anniversary of Wilson's birth. The widow of President Wilson, Edith Bolling Galt Wilson, died the same day.
